Hello TRIO Community!
The House Labor-HHS-Education appropriations subcommittee is expected to mark-up the FY06 bill on June 7, 2005. While this date is not definite, it is a good indicator that the subcommittee will move the bill early next month. That is why, if your Member of Congress serves on the Appropriations Committee, it is important that you continue to outreach to their offices and express your and your institution's/community's support for the TRIO programs. If your Member does not serve on the Appropriations Committee, please follow up with the Congressional Aide that handles education issues and make sure the aides are aware of the importance of the programs to the district. Also, please do not be afraid to also ask him or her questions about what they are hearing in Washington. The Senate Appropriations Committee plans to announce 302(b) allocations next week before the recess, with a mark-up of the FY06 education bill coming in July.
We will continue to provide you with updates as events progress.
