Hello TRIO Community!

Many of you have asked us what the most appropriate and effective way is to influence the Appropriations Subcommittee in the House. I want to reiterate that at this point the most effective strategy is to ask YOUR elected Member of Congress and Senator to personally contact Appropriations Committee members of their party on the importance of the TRIO programs. We strongly discourage individuals calling elected representatives outside their state unless there is a personal relationship with that Member of Congress or Senator.

At this point, a bipartisan group of Members from the House Labor/HHS/Education Subcommittee have expressed their strong support for the TRIO programs. We ask you to continue to act as a unified voice on behalf of your students. Currently we anticipate consideration (mark up) of the Labor/HHS/Education Subcommittee on June 9th. We will continue to keep you informed of the events in Washington and please feel free to contact if you have any questions. The best way to reach us is to respond to this email.

Thank you for your continued efforts on behalf of the TRIO programs!

Heather
